Buenos Aires, November 25 (NA) – Footballer Diego García was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse involving violence against women. Judge Ezequiel Medrano, head of Oral and Criminal Court V of La Plata, sentenced him to six years in prison, with eight months to be served effectively. According to the Argentine News Agency, the athlete was charged with “aggravated sexual abuse involving carnal access in a context of gender-based violence.” It is expected that García will serve his sentence: “Surely it will be under house arrest since he has no criminal record,” indicated a judicial source. Upon being convicted, the accused fainted and had to be assisted by medical personnel.
